The most important thing is to have a solid foundation in the basics before you try to take on more technical things like the blues, jazz or lead guitar. while doing all that other stuff I've also worked on intermediate power chords and the B chord as well and various other things in the intermediate course. but that doesn't mean you can't look ahead a little bit. trying to get my chord changes faster in my barre chords. I have been playing for a year and a half and consider myself to be at level 7/8/9 and a little intermediate. Anyway, I've been encouraged by a lot of the posts people have put up so if this encourages anyone else out there who has found it a bit hard going along the way / think they're taking quite a long time, then that's good. I started learning on an ancient Yamaha F310 and after I'd been going for about 9 months I treated myself to a Seagull S6 Original which I think is fabulous. If anyone had told me I'd be having a bash at barre chords etc etc round about now I'd have thought they were just plain crazy.

My initial targets were a modest learn the A, D and E chords (which in fact took me ages because my 58 year old fingers didn't want to move to any of the right places) and I'm just trying to take it fairly steadily one step at a time. I doubt that I'll move off the BC much before the end of the year because there's so much in it that I'd like to improve on still - but that doesn't worry me. I'm on stage 8 now and while I'm doing these remaining lessons I'm also consolidating / revising the course so far. No previous guitar or experience of any other instrument at all and I've found it hard but brilliant / absorbing / satisfying etc etc. Hi - I've been doing the BC since Oct 2014.
